Last day of May

Wow! Tomorrow is June! The year is blowing by fast.

So today I put air in my bike tires and took it outside and rode it in the parking lot next door. I CAN do it!! I'm very excited about that!

Antonio came with me to CTRF and we had a really good time. It did NOT rain -- just a few sprinkles here and there. I saw Ruth -- she's such a sweetheart. And Carlos and Laura, Artemis, Kirk, who I haven't seen in years, and lots of others. And it's so easy to get to - very close to work. We're going to go again next Saturday after I'm done with the Special Olympics thing with Yvonne. Antonio's going to meet me in Hamden and we'll go from there.

Sandy is being Sandy. Nothing more to say about that.

Then there's Jack. He's still about the gun thing and not knowing your friends like you thought you did. So much for THAT friendship. I will pretend that we're friends but seriously if someone can't accept me for who I am then they're no friend of mine. I still don't understand how he can be shocked that I'm all for gun permits, etc., when I had one myself 15 years ago when we used to hang out and talk all the time. And then because he doesn't believe people should have guns, he doesn't know me anymore? Very odd person there. I don't need the digs. I get enough from Sandy on everything else in my life. LOL!!

May 30

End of the month book sale at the Seymour Public Library. Just when I figured I'm all booked out, I came home with five books. And then two shirts from the Southbury church thrift store. And spent $100 at Kmart - mostly on much needed underwear.

Not a bad day.

Oh and I had shrimp I HAD to cook before it went bad. So I had some old oil (still good) in my dutch oven from eggs. I heated it up, threw the shrimp in, shells and all, and a little hot pepper, salt and pepper. Oh. My. God. They were fantastic. The only thing missing was garlic and that's going in next time!

Went to the Dew Drop with Chris and pigged out on wings. I'm still stuffed. Left work at 2 just because. :) Then the Elks for an hour and home.

Thusday and one more day of work. It's raining a little and thundering a little and I love it.

I'm trying to see if I can organize a few swaps at TOK since a lot of us are really missing having swaps. We'll see.

Two years since Lou died. I can't believe it. I miss her so much. I know I didn't talk to her a lot but we both knew we could always pick up the phone and we'd be there for each other. I know she's so happy now with her sisters, and even her mom. But I do miss her so much.

Memorial Day. Went down to the Elks to be in the parade. Our float won first prize. How cool is that!! Saw a bunch of people along the route including Andy and his girlfriend. Our exalted ruler, Pete, grabbed me and hugged me when he saw me because he said he woke up this morning thinking I'd died!

Went to the laundromat and washed all my work clothes. Brought them home and hung them out. They all dried without a wrinkle. Yeah! And smell so good.

Tomorrow will be two years that my Lou is gone.

May 24

What a day. Wish Lou could have been with me for most of it.

Marched in the parade with the historical society. Said hi to Danny.

Parade over, I came home and changed and went to Tom's. Had something to eat and had three glasses of his home made wine. He makes it just like Daddy did and it's wonderful.

Then Linda (Sr. Linda Chebro) came over and two of Tom's girls wetere and Liz of course and one son in law. etc.

And I swam in the pool after falling off the swan in the water. Then Tom showed me his garden and I asked about the rest of it so he got a joint and he, I and Liz had a hit. Then he gave me a whole one to bring home.

Went up and smoked some of it with Laura and Joel and let them have the rest.

Nice night but I want  a dog.

I think I missed a few days of crappy posts. But nothing out of the ordinary happened. Other than last night Tommy called and Linda Chebro was there. So tomorrow after marching with the Historical Society, I'm going to Tommy's and she'll be there.

Today Sandy and I did the Seymour thing. Then I came home and stayed here.

Worked, of course. Came home and read a bit and in a little while I will be watching a webinar by Rosemary Gladstone, the herbalist.

Work. Found the vcr to give Susan. Susan has another idea for the library so we'll see how that works out.

How could I almost forget? Apparently the church condones the death penalty which means I'm done with the church. Never done with God. Ever. But no more church. I'm done. The church, at least in Massachusetts is ok with the death penalty for the Boston Bomber AND we actually have something in the catechism about the death penalty - saying it's ok under certain circumstances. Bull shit. Hypocrite. No.

Work day and came home. No post office today because I had to work until 4. Went to Shoprite and bought food and came home.

Lindsey's baby shower. The good part is that I sat with Ann and Lisa and their daughters, Angelina and Karen and Claudia.

The bad part is that for some unknown reason, Tony's sister, Chris was there and when Rita went over to say hello, Chris told her to get the hell away from her. WTF????? That bitch shouldn't have even been there. Rita ended up taking a xanax to 'go away' for a few hours. I hope she didn't have it out after with Lindsey and I hope to God she didn't tell Tony his sister was there. That's complete bullshit. I don't care how holy Lindsey thinks she is now. Chris could have just been polite. WTF?

May 16

An awesome day so far. Started out strange. Went to pick up Jenna in Naugatuck. On the way to the Eco Fest site I was driving down by the police station and a tree was down. Everyone was driving over the leaves on the left so I did too. But I ended up picking up two huge branches that got stuck under the car. I pulled one out myself and a Good Samaritan came by and helped with the other. LOL!!

The fest itself was small but pretty great. Jenna had a good time and so did I.

Off to the wedding in 15 minutes.

Wedding was really great. VERY different. They had a priestess - but she read a passage from the Old Testament 'for older family members' and had someone say the Our Father for that part of the family and did a whole pagan thing and Freya's Jewish uncle blessed the bread and it was completely different but fun. And The Harper and the Minstrel were fantastic. They played more than two hours straight without a break.

Eco Fest tomorrow and Freya and Jaime's wedding. Then Lindsey's shower tomorrow.

It's going to be a long but fun weekend.

After work Chris, Marcia and I went to Madeline Salzano Giori's wake. So sad.

Then back to Marcia's for sausage and peppers.

Then home.

Laura got a food service permit for Saturday and she and I are going to cook hot dogs and hamburgers. Should be interesting. LOL!!

May 13

Apparently I didn't post anything last night. But I went down to the Eco site with Laura, Joel and Antonio. We scoped it out and sat and talked.

Had to leave my car at Raros after work because the check engine light came on so Judy brought me in and home today.

It was the thermostat -- they replaced it for $130 which I charged to my new Discover card and then I called Cheap Auto Sales and paid the car off with Discover also. I only had $200 left on that. So that's done. I think I'm going to try to use the card for car stuff and emergencies unless whatever I charge, I can pay for in full when the bill comes in.

That's it.

Carol will probably be getting a job out there so she won't be coming home. I really want her here. I miss them so much.

I might be dog sitting Brooklyn next week while Diana and the crew go camping. But if Sam is working and can't go with them, she'll watch the dog. And then I'll be having Laura and Joel's dog here when they're at Camp Creek and the Vibes. THEN I'll be able to adopt my own dog.

A new week. Went to work. I love life. I really do!

Mother's Day. I have no mother so I had no one to celebrate with.

Carol called. Allen wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Anthony called. Diana called.

That was my mother's day.

I went to Mass and then to the Elks for breakfast. Didn't have to pay because I'm an Elk and a mother.

That's it.

The only good Mother's Days that I ever had were when my mother was alive and when Allen was still married to me.

Went to a few church tag sales and then to Southbury and Woodbury with Sandy.

Then I went to Indian Wells with Laura to see if we could find the ranger who's supposed to let us take some picnic benches for the Eco fest. We couldn't find him.

Been home ever since. :)

May 8

Stayed home from work today. My ibs kicked in early this morning. When it finally calmed down I ran to the store and post office and home. Went to Duchess with Chris for supper and came home.

May 7

There was a major accident on Route 8 in Shelton. So bad that they had to close down both sides of the highway for the entire day. Which meant it took me an hour and a half to get home -- 45 minutes of getting home was coming down 34 from the old Jeep place, to my house. Normally a 5 minute ride when there's lots of traffic. I'm assuming there are victims. :(

Laura, Joel and I went to a presentation at city hall from River Smart - about cleaning up the rivers. It was very interesting.

I left work at noon to come home and clean up a bit since Donna texted and said she'd like to come here and hang out before going to the meeting. And she was bringing Spike too. We hung out a bit and the left Spike with Ruffio and went to the meeting.

We had a good meeting and there was a reporter from the Register there the whole time. She knows Roseann

Went to the library to see a tribute to Johnny Mercer. Very good show!

Went to Anthony and Karla's to see their new apartment/condo. I think it's almost directly across from Jack's. It's really cute and I hope they have much happiness there.

Also picked up a box or two of my stuff - oh my God - I don't know what I'm going to do with most of it.

Jennifer got her white coat in veterinary medicine. Not sure what that means but I guess next year she'll be a doctor. Arlene went out there and they all had a reunion. Andy brought his girlfriend - she's in the picture where Gina should have been. But honestly, I truly believe in Gina were alive, they wouldn't have gone. Timmy looks like Allen did when they took their last picture with him. He looks older than Andy, God help him. I guess Sheila didn't go. Actually she's probably still afraid to fly or I'm sure she would have gone. Wish I could have. But even though I'm 'family', I'm not that much family. No one even told me. I wouldn't have been able to afford to go but it would have been so very nice to have been asked. Why am I letting it hurt me when I know there was no hurt intended?

What a nice day. The weather was beautiful -- cool but you still didn't need a jacket. Sandy and I started out at 7:45 and spent hours driving around Seymour and Ansonia - mostly Seymour -- going to tag sales. They had the town wide tag sale thing and LOTS of people participated. I got a Foodsaver for $5!!

Then Chris and I went down to the Elks for International Night. And Marty showed up. Haven't seen him since they all stopped talking to me and he's been living in Florida for 6 years. Then Beth and Alice came. It was so nice seeing them all.

Happy May! And I forgot it's Mary's mother. How could I forget that? Hopefully I'll remember to say a little prayer to her every day this month.

Got my second monitor at work. LOVE having two monitors. Work is going to be a little easier now!

Met Joanne at Zoi's for pizza. I do love that woman.
