November

And I haven't posted anything. I just finished a dish cloth that came out totally oddly sized. It was for a dish rag relay at Knit and Chat. I am mailing it off with another one that I had already made to make up for the terrible cloth. *sigh*

I'm working on a scarf for the scarf exchange at K&C and also something for our Holiday Exchange there. So I've got a few things on the needles. I plan on finishing the scarf by the end of the week. Can't remember when the deadline to receive it is -- just know it's in early December. I wish I had a brain! Anyone see the Wizard? LOL!

I also have a million Works In Mind thanks to Ravelry. I have a love-hate relationship with that place!!

Well now that I've bitten the bullet, I hope to post more often. Eventually daily. :) This is the best way I know to keep track of the stuff in my head.

September is here

It's finally here! I hate summer. I have no motivation in the summer. I don't want to live during summer. I didn't write in here even one time during the summer. All I did was update my lists of books as I read them.

We did faire and that was about all I managed.

Hopefully I can get back to writing in here now that I can feel tiny bits of autumn in the air.

French?????

I don't know why but all the interface stuff is written in French. I don't read French. I checked my preferences and English is it so where the hell did the French come from?? I had to guess a lot just to post this. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe I was hallucinating. It's back to normal now. But if I was hallucinating, I sure as heck wouldn't do it in French!

Author! Author!

Tonight I went to see Mary-Ann Tirone Smith at the library. She was phenomenal. I'd already read all her Poppy Rice books and loved them. So when I saw she was coming to the library I dug through my TBR pilea few weeks ago to see if I had any more of her books.

I had An American Killing so I figured I'd read that and bring it to be autographed. When I started reading it I realized she'd based it on the Ferrara murders that happened here back in the late 80's when I was working at the church. What a shock to be reading a fiction book and realize that you know the setting and the people, etc.! I knew these people!

As far as knitting goes -- I finished a dishcloth for part of the summer exchange gift. I'm still not sure what else I'm making but I have to do it soon. It has to be received by sometime next month. I'm still working on my January-February-March-April and now May socks. LOLOL!! Someday I might even get to the gusset! I'm also knitting fish with odds and ends of yarn, to put together into an afghan whenever there's enough fish.

April!

Spring has finally hit -- the weekend was awesome. We had rehearsals outside and the weather was perfect.

I felted Terry's mitered bag and the Lucy bag yesterday and they're beautiful. I will have to take pictures and post them.

My February socks are still on the needles but at least I'm now working on the leg part.

Time for the summer exchange. I'm not 100% sure yet as to what I want to make but I have some ideas floating around in my head. I made 10 stitch markers yesterday for that exchange and will be mailing them out later today.

My Kitchenaid mixer has been shipped. I can't wait to get it. I'm dying to try making my own bread and haven't a clue how to knead. With this mixer it will do it for me.

March is here

It's already March 8th and I haven't posted at all in this blog except for adding links. I'm good at that! LOLOL!

Well I finished knitting washcloths for the K&C spring exchange and bought some goodies for the box. I just need to weave in tails and mail it off.

My February socks are now March socks. I do have a few inches done. I started out doing the cuff with a k1, p1 ribbing and then put it down for a few weeks. When I picked it up last weekend I proceeded to k2, p2. Because I was NOT about to frog them (I'm doing 2 socks on 2 circulars), I just continued on with that. For the leg I'm doing k3, p1. Add to that the fact that the yarn is not matched up at all, color-wise, on the socks, and it makes for an interesting pair of socks!

That's all for now -- hopefully I'll remember to keep on blogging!

Casting on again!

So I skipped January's sock because I had issues with it. But I cast on last night for February. I am using Caron Simply Soft and size 4 (I think) needles. The needles are Addi and they're 3.5 mm so I'm not really sure of the size.

At this point, I don't care! I'm doing cuff down 2 on 2 and have a few rows done. I did not swatch because it was a last minute decision to use that yarn and those needles and all I wanted to do was cast on and get a few rows done.

Hopefully they will fit me when I'm done, but if they don't I will find someone to give them to!!

I have a few inches done on the sweater -- LONG term project! LOL!!

I'm working on my spring exchange stuff and also have a Lucy bag on the needles.

God is good

He heard our prayers and Denise will be ok. At least that's what the doctor just told Rick. She's in recovery. They got all the tumor as far as they could tell. They didn't damage any nerves and she probably won't need radiation. It doesn't get any better than that!

Waiting...

Denise is in surgery and I'm waiting for a call on how she made out. She has a tumor on her spine and they have to scrape it off. Rick will call as soon as the doctor tells him anything. She went under the knife at 12:30 p.m. West Coast time. I've been praying hard.

Everything else is on hold right now. Only this matters.

Cast on 64 Stitches

I started and frogged and started and frogged my socks. I finally decided, at the advice of more experienced sock knitters at K&C, to go with a 64 stitch cast on using #2 needles and sock yarn.

This time it looks about right. I've knit two rounds on it. YEAH!!

And I knit a few more rounds on the sweater. At the rate I'm going on the sweater, it will take me a year or two to finish it. LOL!! And who knows what size it will be, but it WILL be!

New Year, New Cast-Ons

Happy 2007!

Last night I went to Sandy's to see in the New Year with her, Lorraine and Sandy's dad who looks forward to this every year that we're here. Since I had a good six hours of just relaxing, I brought some knitting to finish up.

I finished Terry Ross' mitered bag that I started as a KAL at K&C during the summer, I think. Now all I have to do is felt it. I also finished a mitten which I thought I was making a child's size medium. Couldn't figure out why it was so big and fit me perfectly. Well, DUH! The pattern was an ADULT'S size medium. Oh well, it was just to use up some stash so eventually I'll make the other one and either Sam or I will have a pair of mittens. LOLOL!!

Today I cast on for the sweater KAL at K&C. We're doing Mason-Dixon's The Perfect Sweater but I don't like the hem and am doing my own. I also don't want to sew seams so I'm doing it in the round. This should be very interesting because I have no idea how to adapt patterns and am really winging it. I know I'm going to rely heavily on Jackie Fee's The Sweater Workshop. I did a gauge swatch and it's fine but it sure looks like the sweater will be tiny. I will NOT frog it though. Whatever size it comes out, I'll find someone to fit it. LOL!

I am also about to cast on for the Sock a Month KAL we're doing.

I have to take pictures of things and post them. Will I remember??

Later...I cast on for the socks and did one round. Wish me luck! I also took pictures of both the first round of the sweater and the socks. I'll try to remember to post them soon. Hopefully I'll take pictures of my progress on everything I'm working on from now on.

ARGGGGGGG!!! I frogged the socks twice. Tried two different patterns and one looked like it would fit an elephant and the other a premie! GRRRRRR!!
