Forgot

Guess I forgot to post last night but really, nothing different. Work. Home. Eat. Sleep. LOL!!

We got out at noon today and I have to be at Sandy's around six. We're ordering Chinese. I am hoping to go to the 5:00 vigil Mass.

So the recap of this year. Mostly everything is here. I did pretty good remembering to post.

I didn't post details about our weekend in P-Town to say goodbye to Lou and Lee. It was an adventure that I hope I'll never forget but I'll try to remember the details here and now.

I drove up with Marina, Lou & Lee's niece. We had a room at the P-Town convention center, I think it was called. Dorian and Sabrina went up separately and had booked a B&B. Daryl and Davin drove up together and were not going to spend the night. We were just going to scatter the ashes, eat and then they were going to drive home. It didn't quite work out that way.

Dorian picked behind the lighthouse as the place to scatter the ashes. In order to get there we would have to walk 2.5-3 miles on the breakers -- giant stones stacked on each other. Apparently people do it all the time and at first it wasn't too bad. It was very windy though and I was literally getting drunk on the wind. So funny. And Marina had her little dog that she carries everywhere. We didn't slip into any cracks. After walking more than an hour we were only about 2/3rds of the way there. We came across two girls - one had fallen and was hurt. So the boys circled around them and made a shield from the wind and we called 911. The emts had to walk the breakers with a stretcher so us women folk decided to head back. The sun was setting. We ended up walking back -- more than an hour since now it was full dark. Then waited at the shore for the boys.

When they got back we watched a little to see if we could see the emts heading back. As we were standing there a beautiful fox walked right in front of Dorian and Sabrina and up onto the breakers. I have never seen a fox in the 'wild' before! So beautiful!

Marina, a bit after the fact, reminded us that Lou had probably never been out to where we were going to take her because she despised walking anywhere and would never have walked that far. True! So we decided to look for a nice sand dune in the morning. That left Daryl and Davin with having to figure out what to do. They didn't have money for a room. So we snuck them into our room and made make-shift beds on the floor for them.

After breakfast we headed out and check out dunes and found the perfect place. Dorian combined the ashes and set them free and we passed around a bowl in their memory. I participated and found that it didn't make me want a cigarette like I was afraid it might do.

That's the gist of it. We had a great time and Lou would have loved it.

This year - lost a few friends. I hope they're at peace now. And hopefully I wrote down anything I want to remember because I can't think of any right now.

Praying that 2015 will be as good or better than 2014.  God is good!

Mass day

I went to 8 a.m. Mass. I love going to Mass. I missed it so much and am so happy I'm back.

Then I ran to BJs and home. Have been waiting hours for Joel to come over and get my front door keys so I don't lock myself out anymore. I had to call Chuck to unlock my door again. Grrrrrrr!!!!!

Tina's brother hasn't emailed me yet.

Tina

My old forum friend from Massachusetts, Tina, is dead. I'm waiting on an email from her brother to find out what happened. I'm very sad. I know we hadn't talked in forever but that doesn't mean I didn't care anymore.

Went to Alberto's with Roseann and Anita. Yvonne and Spencer came too. It was good to see them. We had a nice time. I wish that she'd let me invite Chris. I had to sort of lie to Chris because she invited me to supper at her house. Told her I was going to Roseann's - I did go to Roseann's to get into her car to go to Albertos. I HATE lying!

Home, sweet home

I don't know if Chris went to the Elks or not but she didn't say anything when I texted her earlier today. Usually she's all about the drinking and stuff. But she didn't text me so I ate at home (picked up Chinese) and here I stay.

I'm not going to have Brooky too much longer. I think they're taking her in a few weeks. I'm am so going to miss this baby dog.

Merry Christmas

What a wonderful day. Went to Naugatuck and had a great time. Sammy gave me a throw quilt and a box of Lindt chocolates. Diana and James gave me a $30 gift certificate to the Dew Drop and Anthony and Karla gave me a Dr. Who book and a Bob's gift certificate for $250 so I can buy a couch.

I talked to Carol and I talked to my sister.

A madhouse day at Karla's with all the kids and adults.

A real Christmas.

And I ended the evening by calling Uncle Tim and talking to him for almost an hour. God please let him go into remission.

Christmas Eve

Got out of work early but had to go back for my phone. Geez!!

Went to Mass at St. Mike's and then to Sandy's. Home now but don't feel like doing anything. My alarm will go off as usual tomorrow so I hope I can get up early and do the things I have to do.

Monday before Christmas

Got my usual bottle of wine from Bill and Lindt truffles from Missy and $50 (cash this time) from Bob. Wen to Liutzzi's to get Anthony's sausages and cheeses -- it took me almost two hours. The place was that mobbed.

That's it. Watching tv with the dog and cat asleep.

2015

I'm not going miss Mass unless I'm not near a church.
I'm going to lose weight.
I'm going to go to as many cons as I possibly can get to.
I'm going to get my house in order.
I'm going to build or buy bookcases
I'm going to read at least 30 books.
I'm going to knit.
I'm going to save money -- even if it's only $100!
I am going to be more organized
I am going to learn things
I am going to see the parts of New England I've always wanted to see
I am going to touch history

Baking Sunday

Went to Mass. Met up with Tom there and we went downstairs for coffee at the K of C breakfast. Then I went to Kohls and hopefully finished getting gifts.

Came home and baked Hershey Kiss blossoms.

I love autumn and winter. Today is the last day of autumn

Less than a week until Christmas

I went to Ruby Tuesday's with Sandy and then we went to Common Bond. We spent a fortune at Ruby Tuesday's but I managed to spend under $10 at Common Bond.

Spent the rest of the day baking a little and watching tv. Made nut cups and pretzel, Rolo bites. Tomorrow after Mass I have to do laundry and go to Kohls - hopefully I can pick up all gifts at Kohls and they aren't mobbed.

Herbal school

I enrolled in the beginner's course at the Herbal Academy of New England. $195 but I paid with paypal credit. I need to do this.

Alderman's meeting

Went to the aldermen's meeting tonight. For once it was very happy and good. Maybe because of the upcoming holiday?

Wednesday

So I'm almost ready to leave work. YEAH!. Going to go to the post office, cigar store, library and home. In for the night. Don't know if I'll feel like doing anything but I have the evening to myself.

Chris said there's a booze party at the Elks Friday night -- some hurricane party that's open to all. But no food. I told her I'd pass. Food is good but I told her that booze is just a waste of brain cells and calories for me. She might get pissed but I don't care. They're all headed for cirrhosis - they drink more than we ever did back in the day with the boys. I don't need that.

I enjoy drinking but I don't enjoy the alcohol making me have to give up the entire evening. And if I drank in the quantities that they drink, I'd be an alcoholic.

Oh what a night!

What a night I had. Work was normal but I had to go to the St. Mary's Ladies Guild Christmas party because I saw Carmel Brown at Mass on Sunday and she asked me. I had such a great time. Ann was there -- the cook/housekeeper from the rectory from when I worked there. We talked and talked and talked. She's 84 now. And still working at the rectory. And Fr. Janusz is so nice. He sat on the other side of Ann and asked me a million questions and we talked too.

I'm so glad I'm going back to Mass.

Library

Went to the library tonight to see the CT Yuletide Carolers -- and they were fantastic. On top of that Charlene was there with Billy -- from the prayer group. Billy remembered me by name. Of course Charlene did too but she's so blind now that she can't even read. It's so sad. But it was wonderful seeing and talking to them.

Third Sunday in Advent

I did get up and go to Mass - 8:00. Met Carmel Brown there and now I have to go to the Ladies Guild dinner at some restaurant in the plaza where the Flowing Spirit Church used to be. She said it's not there anymore. Weird. I brought my giving tree gift too.

Made a batch of cookies and that's been my day.

Home again

Called Sandy and told her I couldn't go out and told Chris the same. I had stomach issues this morning. Went back to bed and all's well now but I didn't even go to the post office or to get the papers.

Friday, December 12, 2014

Missed a day again

But I've been sick. Just am feeling better tonight. I was home yesterday and today. My annual put-me-in-bed cold. Yuck. Better than stomach virus' though.

Fr. French

Ran into Seb at the post office. He told me Fr. French died. No one announced it at either of the Masses I went to and that really sucks. He was assistant pastor at St. Mary's and they didn't know it? But they announced it at Seb's church in Watertown and he wasn't anything there. I'm so upset. His viewing and stuff was at his old church in Hamden and I could have left work and gone. Dec. 2. This really sucks.

Going to the Elks tonight for a Cosmic meeting.

Inclement weather

So I'm all ready to leave for work when Missy texts me and forwards me a text from work -- delay until 9:30. For rain. Then 10 minutes later I get a text from work saying work's canceled. I change into jammies and go back to bed for awhile. Then around 9 I get a text saying ignore the previous text that we DO have to be in at 9:30. I made it in for 10. Geez!

New York, New York

Sammy Dove and I went into the City today. We ate at Bubba Gumps and we went to the Marvel Agents of Shield exhibit at the Discovery Times Square. Found out that Jeckle and Hyde's is right next door - that's where we'll eat next time. Tried to find Rockefeller Center and the tree but couldn't and it was too cold to bother keeping up. We bought some munchies for the ride home in Grand Central Station. It was a very good day.

2nd Sunday in Advent

I went to Mass again today. Met Tommy at church and we sat together. I can do this. It's important to me to mend my spiritual life. I feel great when I go to Mass.

Then I went to the Humphrey's House to work in the gift shop. And now I'm home.

Sam and I are going into NYC tomorrow to see the Marvel exhibit at the Discovery Times Square, finally.

Wonderful day

Went to Longhorn for lunch with Sandy and then we went to the Shelton Walmart. I stocked up on tylenol, advil, immodium, sudafed, etc. and got the cat's food.

Then I went up to the high school for Anita's State of the City address - it was great. Met Linda Fusco, talked with Marc Weissman and Markanthony Izzo and Antonio and in general had a very nice time.

Home now watching Christmas movies on Lifetime.

blah

My stomach was bothering me so I left work early. I also have a scratchy throat. Laid down for a few hours then picked up Susan and we went to the Kellogg Homestead to have the tour. It was beautiful.

Then I dropped her off and went to the CWV to meet Chris for MEATO.

Home now and going to bed. It's cold and rainy - a perfect night to snuggle under warm covers with the pets.

Done, I hope!

Everything is almost finished being wrapped and all I have to do is go to the post office and mail the stuff and pray it gets to Canada before next Saturday.

Procrastination

I'm late with my TOKmas stuff -- I finally finished the knitting and realized I have hardly nothing to send. I have to go shopping after work tomorrow night. And I need money. Damn!

And again

Almost forgot.

Second day of December. I've been doing St. Andrew's Novena. After work yesterday I bought the missalette for this year because I DO plan on going to Mass every week.

Raced home from work today to knit. The dog had trashed the entire kitchen. Had to clean it all up. Then I knit. Still not done. Hopefully I'll get it done tomorrow night. I have to!! It has to be in Canada before the 13th.

Almost forgot to post

Was going to try and finish the swap knitting tonight before and after the women's group but that didn't happen. Had to come up with something for pickie day for tomorrow, which I didn't remember was happening. Had to run to the store and buy dog food. Had to pick up all the litter from the litter box that the dog pulled off the table it's on. Had to barricade the living room so the dog can't get to the litter box. Had to eat. Had to bring a poinsettia plant over to Laura and then play with the baby a bit. Had to run to the Women's group and then came home exhausted. Phew!
