Broken window and bikes

Brooklyn broke one of the front windows. I'm going to have to tell Chuck I did it. I don't want anyone to say I can't have a dog.

Got Rita to finally bring my bike (and Karla's) over.

Now I have to get air in my tires and hope I can still ride.

A good day

Caught up a bit on The Walking Dead. Was going to stay home but Chris texted me. We went to Target, Peach Wave and then Walmart. Then I came home and have been catching up on Haven.

Tomorrow I go to work with Judy and then get someone to drive to my car.

No New York Comicon

The amount of money the guests want for autographs or photo ops is ridiculous and I'm not paying all that for the train to go and pay a ton of money for that. And I'm not going just to say I caught a glimpse of so and so.

Hopefully Rhode Island will be less expensive.

Car issues again

Alternator this time. I stalled at the intersection at Whalley and East Ramsdell and smoke came out from under the hood. Had it towed to Cheap Auto Rentals and they checked it out. They're only charging around $265 for it. That I can do. Called Anthony and he's having Karla give me $200. It's already fixed. I wonder if it was the alternator or a belt? Because that's awfully cheap. Anyway I told them I'd pick it up Monday. Judy will take me in.

Tomorrow I'm helping Sandy at the Humphrey House. She's got to do tours if anyone comes and I'm doing the gift shop - not in costume. And she's going to show me how to spin on my drop spindle.

Board of aldermen

Sucks. That's all I have to say about them. I'm so sick of them.

That' was my whole evenings.

Storm's a comin'

They're predicting a giant rain storm beginning around 2-3 a.m. Winds and the whole thing. We DO need the rain. Picked up some food for me and the fur family and came home and have been watching tv.

A satisfying day

Didn't wake up until 10:30 and just sat online and had coffee for awhile. Then I started on my Halloween swap knitting. Talked to Laney Bug -- God I miss then. She's a little person now. Cooked a bunch of stuff -- wings, pork chops, corn casserole, cauliflower, boiled eggs, stuffed mushrooms. I should be pretty much set for the week.

Autumn is either tomorrow or the day after. For some reason calenders are not agreeing with each other.

Then Chris called and invited me to her sister's for supper. I jumped at that -- pork loin, roasted potatoes, corn. YUM!!

And now I'm home online for awhile and bed soon.

A good day.

God is good. Always.

What a day!!

Let me see if I can get it all in and in orders.

Started the morning by going to the cigar store for newspapers. Joey Madura was there and I asked him if he's the cop that's out in the lot next door almost every night all night. He didn't know I lived here and yes, it's him. I told him if I'm ever awake when he's out there, I'll make him tea. He said ok. :)

Then I met Sandy at the Ansonia train station and our adventure began. We took the train to Bridgeport, then got off and onto the next train - to 125th St. (Harlem), NY. Got there fine and got on the next train to Peekskill. And then the strange/funny day started.

We got off at the station -- both needing to use the bathroom. Well we ran into a girl, who we think was really a guy, who told us the station is being remodeled and they didn't even leave it open for bathrooms. We could see the fairgrounds so we went over there. We were probably the first patrons on the site. So we used the bathrooms there and then got food from an amazing food truck. I think it was called Chippy's Wagon (or truck). I had an egg and cheese sandwich with Irish bacon. It was huge and delicious.

The fair itself was very tiny. There were only 10-12 vendors but lots of non-stop music. There was a whole bagpipe and drum band made up of cops in kilts wearing police shirts and carrying guns. It was a little odd but also cool.

We did go there WAY too early because we had to hang out for pretty much 8 hours before Mundy went on stage. And we were following his plight on Facebook. He came in today from Philly by train. Apparently something happened at Penn Station because he called it the Devil's crotch on Facebook and then said the same thing when he got onstage. LOLOLOL!! He said his whole train experience today was horrible.

Anyway he finally got on stage and sang great. Afterward he was signing CDs so of course Sandy bought one. While she was getting it signed I was talking to his roadie -- an older guy. He thought we came a long way from CT and I told him we had gone to Kansas City just to see Mundy. He showed me his hat that said Kansas City -- he was there too setting up for him. Told us that Mundy will be playing that festival again next year and if we go (we will!!) we should go see him at the top of the stage and say hello. Mundy looks at Sandy and saw her name on her jacket. He asked if she was on Facebook and then said Sandy Mendyk??! She said yes and told him we'd been in KC. He said, and I quote, "I didn't see you there but I saw your friends!" ROFLMAO!!! Me and his roadie started laughing and the roadie said yep he saw the friends but not her. Anyway Sandy told him he did see her and took a picture with her. LOL!!

Then we left because we had to be precise to get the right trains and be on time for the last train from Bridgeport to the Valley. That's when OUR Devil's crotch started. LOL!! We got on ok in Peekskill but were told that we were at 125th so we got off and found out we were at Yankee Stadium -- 153rd Street. Then we had a nightmare of a time trying to find the next train to 125th. Finally got that -- they let us go for free -- and coasted into that station in time to barely make the one to Bridgeport. We had to ask all over to the place to find the one to 125th. Got to Bridgeport and went down and under and back and forth a few times -- in minutes because that's all the time we had -- before we finally found the right track and got to it just as the train pulled up.

Now I'm home and relaxing. It was a really great day! Love my adventures with Sandy!

This needs to be read and re-read

An amazing death

And nothing again

I wanted to go to the Ansonia Derby game but Chris' back is still hurting. I am NOT going down the Elks with her. I just want to be here.

Tomorrow we're headed to Peekskill to see Mundy. And I just read Sandy's train schedule -- seriously? We're supposed to take the train from Peekskill at 7:39 to go home. Something about the last train from Bridgeport being 10:41. Ok -- so we go all the way there to see Mundy sing for five minutes before we have to leave? Wow!!

Hopefully there's a later train.

Well duh! Talked to Sandy -- the fair ENDS at 7. I knew that!! Mundy goes on at 5:45. All is good. LOL!!

Doing nothing

Back to work and got a bunch done.
Checked on my parking ticket -- MarkAnthony said that Rich gave it to me. He doesn't know my new car and I will fight the ticket since, if it's not a parking area, it's not marked that way.
Ran to the store and then home and here I stayed
Watching Criminal Minds right now.

Bone weary & a parking ticket

Diana and James got their loan so buying the house is a go. She said it's a five minute walk from Karla's. That's wonderful but I'll hate to have to say goodbye to Brooklyn.

Went to the Big E with the senior center. Sandy and her friend Arlene went too. I had a great time. Went to the RI building and stocked up on food for lunch tomorrow. Saw Danny perform his magic show. No matter how many times I see it, I still love it. Saw the animals and bought some farm spun yarn and bought some chocolate covered bacon. YUM!

Then I got back to a parking ticket. I made sure to park, down by the post office, where there are no meters and no No Parking signs and right in between the yellow lines for the fire hydrant and the white lines for the crosswalk. So I don't see what the problem is. I have to go check at the PD or wherever you pay it.

Tired and bruised

My sleeping sucked last night and I ended up taking a whole pill and still couldn't sleep well. Then when the alarm went off I went to roll over and forgot Ruffio has decided he has to sleep between me and the dog so I was on the edge of the bed and fell off. I have a huge bruise on the back of my thigh. LOL!

Down tonight

I try to be upbeat but today we went to the Woodbury Historical Society thing and yet again I got a definitive NO when I asked if a vendor would be interested in Derby Day. I'm not asking anyone anymore. And I told Laura that at our little meeting tonight and she said I should resign from the committee if I felt that way.

I want to tell Anita, and maybe the board, how I feel. Then think about resigning. I'm very discouraged and upset about this whole Derby thing.

Wow!

Have I really posted nothing in four days?  The cool and lazy was from the ninth and I didn't hit post until I saw the draft right now.

Wow!  Well it's not like I have anything interesting to say.  So last night Sandy, Xhris and I went to MEATO at the CWV.  And none of us won.

Today Sandy and I went to a few church tag sales and to Commom Bond. I love that store and spent almost $70!!!  I also finally made the dandelion salve. That's hardening now.

Diana and her younger girls, Anthony , Karla and Kayla and Catherine and her three little ones stopped by to visit me and the dog. Mostly the dog.

Today is Denise's 62nd birthday. I tried calling her but got no answer.

Cool and lazy

I could have cooked my pork chops and wings. I could have knit. I could have read. Instead I've been sitting in front of this machine. And wishing it were time for bed. Bleh!

Louisa May Alcott

Met Cheryl Giamapapa after work and took her to the Elks to see if she'd like to use any of it for her classes. She likes the downstairs.

Then I went to the library for the Women's Group - it didn't happen but I glanced at the biographies while I was waiting downstairs and my eyes fell on Louisa May Alcott, The Woman Behind Little Women, by Harriet Reisen. I had to check it out.

So for the first time in years I'll be reading two books at once. A fiction and a non-fiction. And today was such a beautiful autumny day. Life is good. :)

Fighting with AT&T cell

Anthony went off AT&T and onto Verizon yesterday. I'm trying to figure out the new bill and drop back down to the 10GB data plan. So I see I've been being charged an extra $100/month for the date plan. WTF? I've been on  help chat for over half an hour and getting nowhere.

I'm about to call them.

Ok. Got it straightened out on the phone by a very nice young man.

Short family day

Today had to have been the hottest day of the summer yet. And the most humid. UGH!

First we went to Comcast to return my stuff and then Sandy and I went to eat at Hot Tamale in Seymour. It was very good. After roaming the stores downtown we stopped in to Tea with Tracy to get my apple tart/torte/whatever it's called and then went to the other end to the thrift store and Seybridge.

After I dropped her off, I went to Naugatuck to Anthony and Kayla's little party. I was so hot I probably stayed less than two hours and came home.

Another blind down

Marshmallow Brooklyn ripped down another blind. I had to go to Home Depot and buy more. *sigh*

Went to the lodge for a little bit. Now I'm home melting. It's September but I don't think Mother Nature knows it yet. LOL!!

The dog killed the blinds

I came home from work and the blind where the window fan is, was torn apart. I think she heard the neighbors getting in their car and went at the window. Oh well -- they cost $5 at Home Depot so I'll get another set. And I'll have to remember to keep the bedroom door closed while I'm not home.

That's about it. Except I'm getting life insurance from work and told both kids that they are equal beneficiaries. It won't be much - only $38,000, unless I read it wrong and it's $3,800. Either way, it's something.

Cosmic

We met at the Elks and since it was just Donna, Margaret, Johnny and me and one other lady, Laura, we sat at the bar and talked and talked and had a nice time. I showed them around upstairs. I like being at the lodge rather than Naugatuck.

The cat and dog are doing much better at getting along. At one point last night they were both sleeping with me. The dog keeps giving me kisses. I'm going to really miss her when she's gone.

Back to work

The day flew by as I worked and worked. Trying to catch up but the stuff piles up. I'll get there.

Brooklyn is doing great. Ruffio seems to finally like her.

And I'm not even going to think about having to move. Let them tell ME and then I'll worry about it.

TV and more

So Hotel Hell at the Curtis House was on tonight. Really cool. They cut my part but I am shown and they cut Pete down but he did get to talk. It was good because they showed Ramsay reading Donna's book and they did good with Donna "investigating".

BUT I will probably be moving. I didn't notice it last night but when I went out today I saw the For Sale sign in front of my house. Laura's and all the others owned by the same company are all for sale.

There's no place like home

Back home after a LONG journey from DC to Hartford -- a 45 minute flight that took us well over 6 hours to accomplish. I can't even talk about it right now because I'm exhausted. But I'm home. And I have a dog for awhile - Diana's dog, Brooklyn, who wants to play with Ruffio. But Ruffio doesn't want to have a dog. LOL!! Too tired to even talk about that.
