And it's Thursday

A beautiful day. The weather was like fall is on its way. Work was good and I bought a mess of stuff at Target after work. LOL!!

Old car gone and doctor

Took half a day off to go for my annual visit. She's sending me for a mammo and bone density test. She didn't mention my weight -- 142 pounds, even though I'm way over weight. She said it's normal. She wasn't concerned this time that my blood pressure is on the high side. I'm concerned about both things. She did say she saw something on the ekg that's different from the last one and needs to check it out.

Tried to join the senior center again today but they were locked up.

Had Karla's car towed! Yeah!

Aunt Elsie's blankets

Went over Cyndi's tonight to get two blankets knit by Aunt Elsie. She has five or six that she needs to get rid of. They're beautiful -- crocheted entralac. Now I don't have to figure out how to make one -- as beautiful as they are, I don't have the patience. Besides, this is part of my family heirlooms to me.

Four days?

How could I forget to come in here for four days? Strange.

Not much going on, I guess. We did go to the Ansonia all town tag sale on Saturday and that was fun. And Sunday I sat here and cooked for the week and that's just about it.

Upset Chris

Oh well. People who think 50 Shades of Gray is a hot love story get all upset when the truth is pointed out to them. Its the most degrading thing to women since the Marquis de Sade. 'nuff said.

Sterling Opera House Committee

Went to the meeting and found it very interesting. There are so many great ideas but the main thing is we have to have the city and state fire marshals go over the place -- together -- to figure out exactly what needs to be done to bring it up to code. Then we can go from there.

Concert night and car

Brought the car to the Hamden branch to be checked out for the shaking. Of course it didn't do it and they're saying that the shaking is normal. Ok. Yep. Right. They said if I want them to check it out anyway (Yes! I do!) I should make an appointment for next week. That I will do. Just have to coordinate it with someone to bring me back to work and then there when it's done.

Went to the concert on the Green tonight, of course. It was Dr. Ya Ya and the Dirty Rice Band -- funk and New Orleans. Dr. Mayor Anita's favorite band. She says he reminds her of J.R. - her late husband.

Sat with Tommy for most of it.

Carol sent me a mini video of Allena saying buon giorno and ti amo.

Hotel Hell

Watching my first Hotel Hell ever and I love it. Gordon Ramsay did a great job on this hotel/restaurant in New Mexico. I can't wait to see ours now. But I have a feeling we're really going to be on it. Ugh!!

Went to the library for Stacey's cooking demo. It was delicious as usual!

Quiet day

The only place I went today was to do laundry and get gas. That's it. Spent the day at home reading and stuff.

Chris and Tommy and Sandy

Went to the Post Road with Sandy. We went down to West Haven and ate at the American Steak House (or whatever it's called) and then went to Michael's, Joanne's and Barnes & Noble. Bought the yarn and hook to make Laney's Sorting Hat for her birthday party. Carol said she wants a Harry Potter birthday party.

Then I went to Chris' party which is really a cook out without cooking -- all finger foods. Nice and enjoyable. Kind of like being at the Elks only outside and with food.

Came home and started to relax and Tommy called. Said he and Liz and another couple - Hans and Carol - were on their way down to the Elks and would I go down. Of course I did. I'm not drinking and driving so I just had a club soda.

It was a very nice day.

Friday

Car is running ok except for the shaking, thank God.

Went to the lodge with Chris but came home at eight.

I'm tired and have a long day tomorrow.

Watching a few episodes of The Waking Dead.

Car healed

I hope. They fixed it but didn't do anything about the shaking. Said they didn't know about it. I'll bring it to Hamden next week if it keeps up. I hope the other stuff is done and over.

Carlton brought me to Wallingford and I drove home via Rt 5. Drove through North Haven, right by the North Haven fairgrounds and saw some interesting shops along the way. I love my back roads.

Dead car

Luckily I pulled over in front of the cemetery across the street from the Humphrey House. Smoke started pouring out from under the hood and it stank really bad. Carlton picked me up on his way home and will take me in until I get it back. I sure as hell hope it's fixable and then nothing else goes wrong with it because I really like it.

On the up side -- I don't have to go listen to polka music on the Green tonight!! :)

Thunder storms

Again! Rain is good and I like the thunder and lightening.

No concert on the Green tonight. They're doing it tomorrow night. Polka. Ugh. But I'll be there.

Hotel Hell -- they mention ghosts in Woodbury but kind of making fun of it. We'll probably be the last episode. I hope they don't make fun of us.

Nothing new

Went to work. Went to the chiropractor and came home. Here I stay. Watched the rest of Broadchurch and am watching a few shows of LU from the Valley.

A quiet Sunday

Ruffio and I stayed put and I didn't go out at all. I finally got Broadchurch free online and have watched four out of eight episodes. I'll be watching at least another one or two before bed. Made a bunch of munchies that will hopefully take me through a few days worth of lunches. And finished one hexi and started another. I also got my June card for the swap all set and ready to mail out.

Even the weather wasn't all that bad except for a few hours when the sun was out all the way. And even then it wasn't too bad.

It was a good day all in all.

I do have to take the car to the Hamden branch of the car place tomorrow at lunchtime just so they can see about the shaking. Hopefully it's nothing because I do like this car even though it doesn't seem to be all that great on gas.

A very good day

Went to the beach to walk with Chris and Marcia. Then I ran to Big Lots, the Dollar Tree, and Walmart and spent a mess of money. Then back to meet Chris and Marcia and over to St. Mary's festival. Talked to Lisa for awhile - we're going to try and get together. I hope we do. Also saw Claudia at the dollar store and she's going to talk to Richard about getting together. Hopefully they won't pick the same night! LOL!!

St. Mary's Festival

Went to St. Mary's Festival with Chris and her sister, Marcia. We had a nice time. I saw Lisa and talked with her for awhile.

Then the three of us walked down to the Elks and met Tommy there and then Vinny Greco showed up and we all sat and talked and laughed -- and neither Marcia, nor I drank anything other than seltzer or soda. :)

It was a good night and my car is running great so far. It is shaking when I'm stopped for lights, like it's going to stall, but it doesn't. I called the shop and they said it's normal but I can bring it back to get it checked if I want. I'm going to bring it to the Hamden shop on Monday just to show them.

My new car

Is a 2005 Dodge Neon and it's bright blue. It shakes like's going to stall when I'm at a light waiting but it hasn't stalled. I have to call the place tomorrow to see if it's ok or if they need to see it. Anthony paid the $1,150 and I have $2,300 to go at $100 every pay day. I hope it lasts me a very long time.

Rain storm

Anthony called and will take me car hunting tomorrow.

We had a nice thunder and lightening rain storm. Hopefully it will take care of humidity.

Concert on the Green

Rode downtown with Laura and Joel for the concert. It was very good. A Motown/Reggai band.

Stayed home and I think I found a place to buy a car. Cheap Auto Rentals in Wallingford and Hamden. We'll see what Anthony says.

Cleaned the stove - completely. Did some other stuff around the place. Took out the trash and recycling. Read some Dresden. It was a good day all in all.

Judy's taking me in tomorrow but she is leaving early to fly to Florida. She needs to go be with her dad because it probably won't be too long before he's gone. So I guess Carlton will bring me home and I have to find out if I can work his hours the rest of the week. Otherwise I'll have to go in for six on Friday with Roseann and at eight on Thursday regardless.

Broken car

It's dead. I think the transmission is shot. I'm taking tomorrow off to figure things out. Anthony said he'll give me $1,000 and I can do $500. There's a used car dealer in Naugatuck that I was looking at before I found out I had to move. They have a nice Blazer for $1,995. I don't know if they bargain or not. If not maybe they do layaway. I'll have to figure money and stuff tomorrow.

Baby shower and faire

Faire was fun. I had to argue with Mia a little to get Chris in, but I'll be damned if she was going to pay. Chris bought me a bacon brownie sundae. YUM!! We met up with Sandy up there and caught a couple of the shows. I like Wyck -- even though Sandy doesn't.

Danny did a different thing this time. When he ate the last thing of fire, he came over to the bench in front of me and laid down backwards on my lap and at the fire that way. Weirdo! LOL!!!

Went to Tee's daughter, Katey's baby shower. Sat with Mary Draus. Neither Roseann nor Sandy went. I wanted to see Tee's niece, Lea, who was our student worker, but she was sick.

Joel smoked all that chicken and I had them keep all but three pieces.

Fireworks

Went to eat with Sandy and then we went to Woodbury and Southbury.

We had the fireworks tonight and got to have a stage to watch from. The public works dept. borrowed a stage from Shelton but it was too small for the band. So we used it in front of City Hall for the perfect view of the show.

Just got home. I'm taking Chris to faire tomorrow, hopefully with no problems. Danny said I don't have to pay and Brenda had left me a comp ticket that I was giving to Chris but Mia couldn't find it. She said don't worry about it. I'm not worrying but we are NOT paying.

Then I have to go to Tee's daughter's (Katie) baby shower at the AM Club. As much as I hate showers, I'm actually looking forward to this.

Sandy refuses to go and I don't think Roseann is going. But I don't care. :)

Missed last night I guess

I found out yesterday that Marie D'Agostino died last month and that she was predeceased by Giotto. That all sucks because they weren't all that old and because I thought often of them and then never once tried to call me. They should have called me or something. My idea of family is so skewed. Because of the way I was raised.

Today I spent the entire day at home with the cat. I neatened up some papers, knit a little, worked on that last chameleon and watched lots of tv. Three or four episodes of The Walking Dead and caught up with Defiance.

And that's that.

Other than pissing Anita and a bunch of others off over this Hobby Lobby thing that I don't feel like writing about now.

Work and stuff

Entered reqs in Banner today and have a bunch to do tomorrow. I love learning new things. I did this two years ago when they needed help but had to relearn it.

Sat and watched a few episodes of Sherlock tonight. The effing internet is slower than molasses tonight. I don't like comcast internet at all.

Forgot to mention last night that I gave Roseann a ride to pick up her car after the chiro yesterday and then stayed for pizza.
